Looking at Tokyo from Art Deco

Fictitious exhibition about Art Deco movement in Tokyo.

Challenge

As a part of understanding an art movement, we had a project to create an exhibition about an art movement we selected in our hometown. My challenge was to combine low-contrasted, high-tech city like Tokyo into bold colors, shapes and impression of Art Deco.

Solution

The main visual languages were 1) bold colors that are often used in pieces in 1920s to 1930s which art deco movement occured, and 2) pixelized color to suggest the tech city Tokyo. I recreated how the Tokyo’s scenery may look in Art Deco style.
